About this second edition

IT-SECURITY SUMMER SCHOOL - 2nd edition


The IT-Security summer school is organized within the collaboration between the University of Passau, through the Chair of Security in Information Systems, and the University of Antananarivo, through the MISA. The summer school is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD and is the first collaboration of its kind to strengthen the cyber security discipline in Madagascar at both research and industry levels.

In this second edition, topics in Privacy, Internet of Things, CPS security, Mobile communication, Authorization in the Web, and Automotive security will be addressed in an interactive settings with multi-disciplinary researchers.

The summer school takes place from September 16th - 27th, 2019.

During the first week, participants will attend research talks by experts from German universities and leading tech companies. Participants who wish to present their on-going research related to cyber and IT-security can also apply to participate in the poster session of the first week, by sending email to nr@sec.uni-passau.de with a single page abstract describing the topic.
The second week consists of hands-on lab during which selected participants will work on practical implementation of several security concepts. Check the application requirements in order to apply.

APPLICATION


Research talks and lectures during the first week are open to public, but places are limited. Please registrer by sending an email to Noëlle (nr@sec.uni-passau.de).
Masters and PHD students who fulfill the listed requirements below are invited to apply to participate in the labs during week 2.

  • Strong interest in topics related to IT and Cyber security
  • Very good English - all courses and materials are in English
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and command lines
  • Basic understanding of encryption and relational databases
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols such as IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP(s)
  • Good knowledge of scripting language (Python, Javascript,...) and one programming language (C++, Java, Go...)

Please, note that during the summer school, we do not offer accommodation support.
